Having benefited from a Quaker education, I was delighted to be asked to be Patron of the Friends' School Saffron Walden Tercentenary Appeal.

Three centuries of continuous Quaker education is an achievement indeed, and the building and refurbishment of the School Swimming Pool originally built in 1902, is a thoroughly appropriate way of celebrating the event.

I hope you will feel able to contribute generously to this appeal and look forward to meeting you personally at one of the Tercentenary events.

With my very best wishes to the school as it moves forward into the new millennium invigorated and enchanced by this great anniversary.
