| Philip & Moira appear on PBS During the recent pledge breaks on PBS stations across the country, the stations aired the special "Funny Ladies," hosted by Penelope Keith. The dates varied by station, but included with the special was the appearance by Philip Bretherton and Moira Brooker which was sandwiched between segments. These segments were, I felt, unremarkable -- certainly when compared with the previous appearances by Philip and Jenny Funnell which have been transcribed and appear elsewhere in the Curiosities section. In fact, the only two things that seemed interesting to me were (1) the original title of ATGB was Winter With Flowers. Seems as though quite a few people objected to it and on the first day of the filming there was a cake with that title imprinted on it. No-one would eat the cake until the title was changed and (2) the young boy who played Terry, the honeymooner in Episode 1 of Season 3 is Sam West, the son of Prunella Scales (Fawlty Towers). There was, of course, the appropriate mention of Judi Dench, as a "Funny Lady," and I found it amusing that the wonderful Lenny Henry accused her of stealing his BAFTA because she won every time she was up against him in their category. I captured quite a few pictures, but only posted these three because I have so few of Moira Brooker out of character. As for Philip, he looks about the same in the pictures, only a bit grayer -- as are we all.
