Dame Judi Dench plays the matriarch of a theatrical family based on the legendary Barrymores, in George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber's "The Royal Family," directed by Sir Peter Hall, at the Theatre Royale Haymarket. Dench's role is not dissimilar to the part of Lady Bracknell which she is currently playing in the screen version of Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest with Rupert Everett.
